Description

“Whole Home Office Water Filtration System” at a price of $1750.00, I offer this at $2750.00 (A) or $2895.00 (C) when combined with the BEV500 ($1445.00). Option A includes the Aquashield filter (for water systems using chlorine disinfection), and Option C (for water systems using Chloramine disinfection). Option C includes a specific Chloramine removing carbon block.)

Here’s some info on the whole house unit, which we are combining with our new BEV500. This combination of systems provides the home owner with the benefits of significantly improved water quality throughout the home, and the absolute purest water for drinking and cooking.

Pure Water Systems has been developing a whole-house filter for the last couple of years. Introducing a new product takes considerable resources, and in the case of a whole-house water filter it also requires a high degree of education for the consumer.

It is also important to understand a whole house system treats 100% of the water entering the home. Compare that to a drinking/cooking water purification system like our BEV Systems which typically treat about 2% of your water use. Obviously, the scope and scale is much different, as should be the expectations from a whole house system. We commonly make the statement “make the water that goes IN you (drinking, cooking, washing fruits and vegetables) as pure as possible, and make the water that goes ON you (bathing, showering, but also includes washing clothes, dishes, and flushing the toilet) as pure as you can afford.”

To be clear, a whole-house system capable of providing water with the purity of one of our BEV Series systems would, even for a “normal” sized home quickly run into 5 digits and requires a sizable storage tank. This is unrealistic for most folks, and while we have put together a few systems for individuals who desire the highest purity water (and who have very deep pockets!), it isn’t a normal request.

Our decision to offer a whole home purification solution is the result of repeated requests from our customers, and the growing concern for the possible negative effects resulting from bathing in water that contains organic pollutants, chlorine, chloramines, bacteria and virus as well as breathing in the vapors while taking showers. We are now proud to offer a “basic” whole house system that is user serviceable. (It does require installation by a professional plumber.) The system includes three 20” “Big Blue” filter housings containing:

  • In Position #1 — Heavy duty Commercial/Industrial dual-gradient (50 micron external to 5 micron internal) thermally bonded polypropylene micro-fiber sediment filter offering consistent flow rates, superior filtration performance, and exceptional dirt-holding capacity. This cartridge is designed for purity and will not impart taste, odor or color to the liquid being filtered. Additionally, the polypropylene construction provides superior chemical resistance and is not prone to bacterial attack. The dual gradient design combines selective final filtration with appropriate pre-filtration to achieve up to three times the dirt-holding capacity of similar size sediment cartridges and even greater capacity than standard spun or string-wound cartridges. This performance enhancement is achieved by combining two separate gradient layers in one filter. The larger diameter of the pre-filter reduces the particle load to the post filter, allowing it to operate at higher velocities. The effective filter depth is increased to a full 233% of standard spun-polypropylene or string-wound filters. This increased depth provides for very high particulate reduction efficiencies and added loading capacity.

  • In Position #2 — The second (middle) filter position contains a steam washed unidirectional ( linear flow) Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filter to effectively reduce unwanted tastes, odor, and chlorine. (Part No. BB-LIN-GAC)  GAC, when properly applied, provides significant reduction of organic contaminants like pesticides, herbicides, and industrial solvents. They are designed to allow maximum contact between the water and carbon, ensuring maximum adsorption. The construction of the cartridge allows water to enter at one end and pass through the entire length of the carbon bed before exiting the other end of the cartridge. Before the water exits the cartridge, a 20-micron post filter helps reduce carbon fines and other suspended particles from the filtered water. The post-filter is permanently fastened to an innovative support basket ensuring that it is firmly secured and eliminating any potential for bypass. GAC alone will have some capacity to remove chloramines, but is not considered an effective method for total removal. For further removal of chloramines, we have added a dedicated filter in position 3 as an option.

  • In Position #3 — a unique filter we call an AquaShield which includes a string wound silver impregnated medium which prevents the growth of bio-films in your pipes. (Once the chlorine is eliminated, there is increased risk of bio-films forming in your pipes.) Water entering the filter housing is forced through millions of tortuous microporous pathways; each drop of microbe carrying water touches the “Aquashielded” filter fibers destroying and inhibiting the growth of water borne microorganisms.

o   Position #3 optionCarbon block filter specifically formulated for removal of chloramines. The BB-ChloraMinus™ carbon block cartridges help reduce sediment while providing greater chloramine performance capacities than granular carbon. They also significantly reduce the carbon fines found in many granular canisters. This heavy duty radial flow cartridge measures 4.5 inches in diameter and 20 inches long, which is ideal for higher flow rate and capacity applications. This cartridge incorporates a 70–micron porous polypropylene outer shell and a spun polypropylene-wrapped core. The compressed bed of granular activated carbon (GAC) between the outer shell and core creates a unique radial flow design which effectively removes chloramine, has a low pressure drop, and helps to reduce fines commonly seen in GAC-style cartridges. This cartridge utilizes advanced activated carbon technology which allows superior chloramine and chlorine reduction.

Specifications: 22.5” W, 26.75” H, 8.5” depth. 45 lbs. 1” inlet & outlet.

Maintenance: Replace filters @ 6 month intervals (for normal household 2-4 persons)

(For homes >2800 sq.ft., and/or with large numbers of occupants, a second system plumbed in parallel may be needed)

Combined with the BEV500 system you have a robust, user serviceable purification system for your whole house, and the purist drinking water available.
